2021年中国灵活就业群体规模达到两亿以上，其中租赁和商务服务业、批发和零售业和信息传输、软件和信息技术服务业在灵活就业市场中最为活跃，在灵活就业招聘行业占比中分别达到36.4%、21.1%和10.1%。首先是国家出台了一系列政策，在认可用工行业地位的同时，强化落实社保补贴政策。其次，2020年中国生产总值约1015986亿元，同比增长2.3%，创历史新高。其中，第三产业增加值比重为54.5%。但与此同时，中国2020年城镇新增就业人口比上年减少166万。随着第三产业占中国生产总值比重的持续加大，对劳动力的需求势必持续变强。但劳动力数量的减少趋势明显，这为灵活用工行业的发展带来了机会。未来灵活用工行业将继续发展，在加强税收、社保等方面已有的行业规范，更加明确税收要求的情况下，开拓更多灵活就业方式、产生更多“溢出效应”、对国内区域间平衡发展做出更多贡献的同时，创造更好的灵活用工环境，为未来吸引更多灵活用工从业人员打下夯实基础。此外，行业将逐渐走向专业化和成熟化，积累人力资源、客户资源和口碑，覆盖生产流程各个步骤和职业发展路径的不同职级，提高业内公司议价能力。同时，专业化也将帮助扩大行业覆盖人群，从原先主要覆盖技术型人才和通用型人才，到逐渐覆盖战略型人才，为劳动者提高更多选择，也使得企业受益于灵活用工专业化，拥有更合理的资源配置。
